HORSE AND CATTLE RANCH PROGRAM

A new round yard and rodeo arena has been built at Birdwood Downs Station to facilitate the Kimberley School of Horsemanship.

The school offers riding camps and individual riding lessons. There are also day long or half-day trail rides through the beautiful pastures and country of Birdwood Downs which includes a section of an historic trail, ponds teaming with bird life, striking grassland vistas, and timbered fossil dunes.

The School of Horsemanship has nine horses to suit riders of all proficiencies including one stallion for a breeding programme. The younger horses have been trained on Birdwood Downs and of course there are colts coming up for training.

Riding School horses Bobbie, Bound 2, Victoria and Rudi are favourites of the kids. The Kimberley School of Horsemanship is fully equipped to match saddle, rider, and horse.

Director Robyn Tredwell was awarded ABC's Australian Rural Woman of the Year in 1995 and is known for her work in land regeneration and sustainable pastoral development. "I have always wanted a horsemanship school at the Station and am so pleased to make available this wonderful experience to the community."
