Birdwood Downs Station is a pastoral station of 2500 ha located on the Gibb River Road in the West Kimberley.
Since 1978 it has pioneered new ecological methods of improving degraded lands using stock management, weed control and planting improved grasses. Now the beautiful paddocks with their groves of native trees, spectacular boabs and eucalyptus, serve as a model for sustainable management of the tropical savannah and support our cattle herd. Read more about us.
Our Tourism facilities include a bush style campground for tents, campervans and camper trailers and a limited number of caravans. Savannah Huts are available to enjoy the luxury of a room in the beautiful gardens around the homestead. A well equipped camp kitchen is available. For those interested in our approach to sustainable ecology we have bush tucker tours through our paddocks.
Our accommodation is suitable for small groups. Meetings and functions can be held in our theatre and on our shady mahogany patch.
Our Savannah Nursery has reopened. We specialize in native plants and have quite a selection of non-natives.
We are open for camping again from 1 June 2020 onwards. To comply with COVID-19 safety rules we limit the number of camping parties to 15. To avoid disappointment please book in advance by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or telephone (08 9191 1275).
